Cavanagh- Ritchie Wedding

 

On Saturday, July 19th, at 2:30 p.m., Marilyn Ann Ritchie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ritchie of Cedar Hill and George Melbourne Cavanagh, son of Mrs. Merville Cavanagh and the late Mr. Cavanagh of Kinburn, were united in marriage at Zion United Church, Cedar Hill. Rev. Cecil Dodds performed the ceremony. Mrs. Carson Timmons was pianist and Mrs. Clem Hammill was the soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor, length gown of white organza featuring a high collar and long sleeves, and deep frill around the hem. The yoke was embroidered with seed pearls and lace, edged with a frill to match the hem. Her matching two tiered veil fell into a train and was trimmed with lace to match the dress. Her headpiece was of flowers and seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of twenty-five sweetheart roses and baby's breath. The bride's attendants were her sister, Katherine, as maid of honor and Carol Dunlop and Mary Fulton as bridesmaids. All the girls wore identical gowns of sheer flocked nylon over turquoise blue. They wore matching picture hats and shoes and carried nosegays of blue and white carnations with white streamers. The groom was attended by James Buck as best man. James Cavanagh and William Skripnek were ushers. All the men wore identical white jackets with black piping, black trousers and frilly shirts. The bride's mother chose a deep pink chiffon floor-length gown with white accessories, while the groom's mother wore a floor-length gown of blue flowered polyester chiffon with matching coat and white accessories. A wedding dinner was served at the Cedar Hill Community Hall to sixty-five guests. Later, the young couple left for a honeymoon trip to the Maritimes. The bride travelled in a red and white checked pantsuit with white embroidery on the yoke and cuffs. Her accessories were white. The groom changed to a sport suit of navy double knit with white stitching. The young couple are residing on the groom's farm at Kinburn.

CORRIVEAU - JULIAN - The engagement is now announced of Janie Ann Corriveau, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray Corriveau, to Eric Kenneth Julian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric D. Julian, Almonte. Ontario. Wedding to take place on July 19, 1975, at 4 o'clock, St. Mary's Church, Almonte.
BOAL - ARMSTRONG - Mr. and Mrs. Howard Boal are pleased to announce the engagement of their youngest daughter, Bonnie Ellen (Boal), to Clifford Allan Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Armstrong of Carp. Marriage to take place July 26th, 1975, at 4 p.m., in the Almonte United Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Drynan, Patrick and Carl Jr. spent a few days this past week with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Drynan.

Arthur - Crozier

On Saturday, July 11th, 1915, Kathryn Crozier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crozier of Renfrew and Glenn Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Arthur of Almonte were united in marriage at Northcote United Church in Renfrew. Reverend Bill Hare and Reverend Fran Hare performed the ceremony. Mrs. Sybil Ferguson was the organist and soloist was Mr. Donald Campbell. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length dress of matte jersey trimmed with lace and seed pearls on a stand-up collar and slit neckline with matching train. Her two tiered net veil with a juliette cap was trimmed with lace and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and baby's breath. The bride's attendants were Miss Debby Robinson as maid-of-honor and Mrs. Sharon Pirie, Mrs. Marilyn Whittle (sister of the groom), Miss Joan Russett and Miss Jane Russett as bridesmaids. The attendants wore dresses of taffeta under white nylon embossed with purple velvet flowers. The dresses had U-shaped necklines, apron-like skirts and purple ribbon defining the empire waists. Carrying baskets of yellow and mauve carnations with baby's breath, they also wore flowers in their hair. The groom was attended by Gene Somerton as best man. Bob Newberry, Jack Hudson, Keith McKinnon and Kevin Crozier (brother of the bride) were ushers. The bride's mother chose a dress of floral nylon over taffeta in yellow with a matching coat. She wore white accessories and a corsage of peach roses. The groom's mother wore turquoise lace over taffeta with white accessories and a corsage of yellow carnations. A wedding dinner was held at Mr. and Mrs. Crozier's summer cottage with a reception at the Renfrew Armouries. The bride's travelling costume was a sky blue pant suit trimmed with red roses. She wore red accessories with a corsage of red roses. The couple will reside in Almonte.

Observe 40th Anniversary - Mr. and Mrs. William Lawson met with a delightful surprise when invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Timmons for supper on Sunday evening, April 11th. On their arrival a group of about 30 friends and relatives were assembled there, the occasion being their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Included in the group was the bridesmaid and groomsman of 40 years ago, Mrs. Irene Snedden and Mr. Leonard Fulton. A lovely, three-tiered wedding cake graced the table. A delightful buffet luncheon was served, following Grace by Rev. Cecil Dodds of Pakenham. Later, the bride and groom cut the cake and served it. Mrs. Lawson's corsage was four red roses and Mr. Lawson's boutonniere was a white carnation. A lovely evening was shared by all present.
Celebrate 50th Anniversary - Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ritchie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary March 27th. They were married in Darvel, Scotland, in 1919. They have two sons, Clarence Wesley of Toronto and William Morton of Almonte, and four grandchildren, two boys and two girls. Mr. and Mrs. George Kelly entertained them at dinner on March 27th. Mrs. Kelly is a sister of Mrs. Ritchie. Their sons entertained for sixteen at dinner on Saturday evening. This was enjoyed by everyone.
THOMPSON - DAY - Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thompson of Carleton Place wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Lea (Thompson), to Dwayne Robert Day, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Day. Wedding will take place in Carleton Place, Zion United Church , September 14, 1985.
DRYNAN - We would like to thank all our friends who sent gifts, flowers and cards on the occasion of our 45th Anniversary. Special thanks to all our family for an excellent party, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Crabb, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hobbs, and all who helped in any way. This occasion will be remembered always. HENRY - BOAL

On August 24, 1973, at Zion United Church, Cedar Hill, was the scene of a double ring ceremony, uniting in marriage, Muriel Jeanette (Boal), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Boal, to John Samuel Henry, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Henry. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Cecil Dodds and the pianist was Mrs. Carson Timmons. The bride entered the church to "0 Perfect Love." Given in marriage by her farther, she wore a floor length gown of white lace over peau de soie with long sleeves, empire waist and high neckline. The flared skirt was gathered at the back waist and extended into a train. Her waist length veil of tulle illusion was adorned by a diamond tiara. She carried a cascade bouquet of red and white carnations. The maid of honour, Barbara Boal, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaid, Mary Fulton, friend of the bride, wore medium blue floor-length gowns with puffed sleeves and empire waist. They carried bouquets similar to the bride's in blue and white carnations. In their hair, the girls wore white carnations and blue bows matching the dresses. The bestman was Bill Henry, brother of the groom, the bridesmaid's escort was Elmer Boal, cousin of the bride, and the ushers were Ross Boal, cousin of the bride, and Bob Henry, brother of the groom. During the signing of the register, Mr. Mac Thom sang "Ode to Love." The bride's mother wore a light green gown with white lace sleeves, collar and front panel, tied in front by a green tie. Her corsage was of yellow carnations and wore accessories of white. The groom's mother chose a pink gown with a silky bodice joined in a V in front to its flared polyester skirt. Her corsage was of white carnations and she wore white accessories. A reception, following the ceremony, was held in the Almonte Agricultural Hall. For going-away, the bride chose, a cream knit sweater and skirt suit with a corsage of blue and white carnations. Following a honeymoon to western Ontario, the couple took up residence in Almonte.

THOMPSON - Wayne and Teresa (nee Spencer) are pleased to announce the arrival of their daughter, Jennifer Christine (Thompson) - 7 lbs. 10 oz. at 8:52 am, August 10, 1982. A granddaughter for Mr. and Mrs. William Spencer of Almonte and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thompson of Scotch Corners. A great granddaughter for Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Parkman of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Drynan of Almonte and Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Thompson of Stittsville. A great, great granddaughter of Mrs. Annie Stanley. Special thanks to Dr Deschenes and maternity nursing staff at Almonte General Hospital.
RITCHIE - CAVANAGH

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ritchie wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Marilyn-Ann (Ritchie), to George Melbourne (Cavanagh), son of Mrs. Merville Cavanagh and the late Mr. Cavanagh. The wedding will take place on Saturday, July 19, 1975, at 2:30 p.m., at Zion United Church Cedar Hill, Ontario.

JAMES - COCHRAN - Mr. and Mrs. Alfred James announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Catherine Anne (James), to Donald Erskine Cochran, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cochran, R.R. 1, Almonte. Marriage to take place at St. George's Anglican Church, Clayton, on Saturday, October 5th, 1974.
