DEATH OF MRS. VAIL
OWEN SOUND SUN (1912) - Mrs. William B. Vail, of Balaclava, passed away at her home near what is familiarly known as Vail's Point of Wednesday morning last at the advanced age of seventy years. Deceased had been in very good health until but a short time prior to her demise which was caused by valvular trouble of the heart. Her maiden name Lydia Hutchison and she was married to William B. Vail, of Balaclava nearly fifty years ago coming to her present home and residing there ever since. She was an earnest and faithful member of the Quaker body and through her gentle and mild disposition was beloved by all who are privileged to become acquainted with her. Although of the retiring and inefficacious nature her influence was wide spread and lasting. A fitting tribute paid to her by one who knew her intimately, - that nothing too good could be said regarding her is an indication of an enviable character.
Besides her husband there survives a family of four sons and four daughters. They are as follows;- Marmaduke W., of Tobermory; Mrs. Beaucage of Meaford; Mrs. Olfield of Point au Baril; Mrs. Hyatt of Fort William; Miss Sarah Vail of Battle Creek, Michigan (at present at home), David L., James and Freeman at home. Deceased was well known in Owen Sound, Mr. McReynolds of Cross and McReynolds being a near relative. The funeral will take place from her late residence on Saturday at 2 p.m. To Balaclava, and the services will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Langton of Leith.
