The late Mr. Thompson was born in Meaford some 71 years ago, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Thompson, and spent his life in Meaford. He was apprenticed to the plumbing and tin smithing trade by the firm of Cleland Bros., and was a leader in his line. He had charge of many important plumbing jobs in Meaford, and it was while working on the Public School heating plant that he was stricken with a heart seizure culminating in his retirement from business nearly twelve months ago, and his ultimate passing.
Deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and highly esteemed by many friends, who were grieved at his death. Deceased is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Harriett Turner; two sons and two daughters: George (Pete), town; John H. of the Bank of Montreal staff, St. Thomas; and Hazel, Mrs. L.R. Bishop, Portneuff, Que.; and Marjorie, Mrs. W.A. McRoberts, London.
The funeral was held from his late residence on Tuesday afternoon to Lakeview Cemetery. Service was conducted by Rev. T.D. Painting, Rector of Christ Church, and the members of Meaford Lodge I.O.O.F. The pall bearers were close friends of deceased as follows: Messrs. T.T. Paul, W.R. Conn, W.H.    The floral offerings were very numerous and beautiful and testified to mingled feelings of sorrow and esteem.
