DEATH OF MISS KATE STEWART
MEAFORD EXPRESS (Sept. 1929) -- The passing of Miss Kate Stewart, daughter of Mrs. and the late James Stewart, occurred at the family residence, Trowbridge street, on Monday evening after an extended illness. Deceased was born in Meaford and for many years was an efficient and valued member of the Public School staff. Over a year ago she was forced through illness to abandon her profession and had been in delicate health since that time. Deceased was a woman of exemplary character and highly esteemed and her death is deeply mourned by a host of friends. She was a member of Erskine Church and also took and active part in church work, and her influence in education activities will long dwell in the lives and memory of all with whom she came in contact.
   Deceased is survived by her mother, one brother, James A. Stewart, of Toronto, and seven sisters as follows:- Mrs. A. Wilson, Mrs. D.A. Ferguson, Mrs. Geo. Carnahan and Mrs. H.N. Hartman, Meaford; Mrs. S.V. McVean, New York; Mrs. R.D. Pollard, Palmetto, Florida, and Mrs. B.T. Ferguson, of Creemore.
   The funeral was held from her late residence on Wednesday afternoon to Lakeview Cemetery, Rev. Mr. Morden, pastor of Erskine Church, officiating, the Public and High Schools being closed out of respect for the deceased.
