MEAFORD EXPRESS (1943) -- News of the death of Bryan A. Spike came to us last weekend. The sad event occurred in the Union Hospital, Assiniboia, Sask., on Wednesday, May 19th. Deceased was born near Kingston in 1859, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Spike, early residents of Meaford, and spent many years in this town. He was employed by the S.A. Gray general store and was very popular in musical circles, having been a member of Trinity Church choir and a snare drummer in Meaford Citizen's Band for a number of years.
   The late Mr. Spike leaves one daughter, Mrs. H.D. Stephen, Assiniboia, Sask; four sisters, Mrs. Scott, Toronto; Mrs. Greenwood, Grimsby; Mrs. F. Abercrombie, Elm Creek, Man.; and Mrs. A.B. Peterkin, Winnipeg, and one brother, George Spike of Edmonton.
   Mr. and Mrs. R.W. McIntosh, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Cleland and Mrs. Frank Finley of town are brother-in-law and sister-in-law of the deceased.
