THE LATE WILLIAM ROSE
MEAFORD EXPRESS (1921) - The death of William Rose, Sr., took place at his residence in Meaford of some fifty years. Deceased had been in failing health for some time but had only been confined to be about two weeks.
   Born in Ireland, the late Mr. Rose came to Canada when 10 years of age, settling with his parents in New Ontario, near Burk's Falls. Some fifty years ago deceased came to Meaford as a sawyer at the old Tyson sawmill, located at that time on the old elevator site. For some years deceased was a steam boat engineer and 1890 when the Meaford waterworks was installed he was engaged as engineer, a position he held for some 17 years. He also did police duty for the corporation from time to time.
   The late Mr. Rose was married three times, his first wife predeceased him in May, 1905. In 1911 he again married to Mrs. Sarah Clarke, of Collingwood, who also died, in 1920. About a year ago he was wedded to Mrs. Daly, who survives.
   Deceased was a life long member of the Methodist Church and was a very regular attendant. In politics he was a conservative and was very pronounced in his views on any subject on which he was versed. He was a steady and trustworthy man and game the best service at his command to the corporation while in its employ.
   He is survived by a family of six, three daughters and three sons, Mrs. P. Benson, Mrs. S. Weaver, and Mrs. E. Perks, and William, and Fred, of Meaford, and Frank, engineer at the Spanish Pulp Mills, Soo, Ont. A son John Rose of Meaford, and a daughter, Mrs. E. Milligan, of Galt, predeceased him a couple of years ago.
   The funeral will take place from his late residence this afternoon, at two o'clock, for Lakeview Cemetery.
