ROBERTSON, Elizabeth
"Death has taken away another of the old residents of St. Vincent in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Robertson, widow of the late James Robertson, which sad event occurred at the residence of her son, Mr. Charles Robertson, 9th line north, on Friday evening.
The deceased, who was in her 84th year, had been ill since last March, when she had the misfortune to break her hip, leaving her practically helpless. Born in Blenheim, Ont., the deceased was married to Mr. Robertson, fifty-nine years ago and came to St. Vincent with him forty-seven years ago, settling on the farm on the 9th line north. The husband died twenty-one years ago last May, since which time the widow made her home with her son, Charles."
"Through the late Mrs. Robertson's life was lived in a quiet way, yet her years were full of useful service to the neighborhood in which most of her days were spent. A devoted wife and mother, she poured her life into the lives of her children, and they today rise up and call her blessed. Before the shadows of eventide began to fall across her pathway she was ever ready to render assistance in case of sickness or distress and to utter words of comfort and consolation to those who were sad and sorrowful by reason of recent trial and affliction.
The late Mrs. Robertson leaves three sons and two daughters: Alexander Robertson, Owen Sound; Charles, 9th line; William, Detroit, Mrs. Weadbrook, Detroit, and Mrs. Wm. Montgomery, Winnipeg; also three brothers, John, Nelson and Elijah, of Detroit.
The funeral took place on Monday afternoon to Duxbury's Cemetery, St. Vincent."
