Miss Gertrude O'Neill
Miss Gertrude O'Neill, a retired West Pittston school teacher, formerly of 327 Race Street, died yesterday at her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel O'Neill's, residence in Gasport, NY where she had resided for the past two years.
   Miss O'Neill was born July 15, 1885, in Hanover, Ontario, Canada, and attended Columbia University, receiving her degree in Library Science from the University of Chicago. She joined the faculty of West Pittston high school in 1910, becoming head librarian from 1929 to her retirement in 1951. She was a member of the First Baptist church, Pittston.
   Miss O'Neill's parents were the late Rev. and Mrs. Jonathan O'Neill, her father being the former pastor of the Water Street Baptist church, Pittston. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gene O'Neill of Wyoming, with whom she lived prior to moving to NY. The funeral will be from the Howell Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston on Wednesday with interment in West Pittston cemetery.
