PIONEER PASSED IN DEATH
OF ANGUS McINTOSH
MEAFORD EXPRESS (1929) -- Death removed another of the pioneers of Meaford in the person of Angus McIntosh, who passed away on Friday January 18, in his 89th year, at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. J.A. Gower, Nelson Street after a ten days' illness from influenza and resulting complications.
   The deceased was born in October, 1840, in Glengarry County, Ontario, where his parents first resided. John McIntosh, his father, was of good old Scotch ancestry, being a native of Perthshire Scotland, who came to the country in the year 1800, and settled in Glengarry County. Mrs. McIntosh, now Isabel Grant, mother of the deceased, was a descendant of a prominent U.E. Loyalist and was born in this country.
   The late Angus McIntosh was married in 1880 to Mary Cameron who predeceased him five years ago. Their one daughter is Mrs. J.A. Gower, Meaford.
   The deceased had two brothers, the late Gilbert McIntosh, Meaford and the late Duncan McIntosh, Apple Hill, Ont. His sisters were Mrs. Janette MacLaren and Mrs. John McRae.
   The late Mr. McIntosh, the last member of the family, was a carpenter by trade working at his occupation here for many years. He was in early life identified with the Presbyterian church, later connected with the Methodist Church, and at the time of his death was a member of Trinity United Church.
   At the funeral services on Sunday afternoon, January 20th, his pastor, Rev. Edward Baker, spoke very highly of the deceased and extended sympathy to the bereaved friends. Among the floral tributes were, pillow, the family and Mrs. Jas. Lodge, Miss E. Graves, Mr. and Mrs. B. McIntosh and John MacIntosh; Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Croft, Toronto; Mr. Harold Gower, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Chapman, Finley Rebekah Lodge, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Loucks.
