MEAFORD EXPRESS (1922) - After a lingering illness of three years, Margaret Leonard, relict of the late Thomas W. Hart of Meaford died on Monday morning last at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W.T. Moffatt, of Bognor, in the 77th year of her age. In her death Meaford loses one of its oldest and most esteemed residents, she having lived here for over fifty years. Mrs. Hart's mother was born on the ocean while coming to this country with a party of United Empire Loyalists. They came out in a sailing vessel and took about two months to make the voyage.
   The family settled at Harrowsmith, a village distant some 18 or 20 miles from the city of Kingston. Here they lived until the deceased was married to Mr. Hart. On coming to Meaford over half a century ago Mr. Hart taught school in Sydenham and St. Vincent for some years and at a later period embarked in the mercantile business which he carried on until his death 13 years ago last August. From then until the time of her death. Mrs. Hart made her home with her sons and daughters. Three years ago she was taken ill with Bright's disease and was practically an invalid the rest of her days.
   The late Mrs. Hart was a life long member of the Methodist Church, of which her father was for a local preacher. The deceased leaves two sons, Wilson Hart, of Toronto, and Wellington Hart, Meaford and three daughters, Mrs. W.T. Moffatt, Bognor; Mrs. J.D. Saunders, Camrose, Alta., and Mrs. V. Oppenheiser, Meaford; also one brother, Charles Leonard, of Harrowsmith.
   The remains were conveyed to Mrs. Oppenheiser's residence, Meaford, whence the funeral took place at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon to Lakeview Cemetery.
