DEATH OF MRS. OLIVER GIBBONS
MEAFORD EXPRESS (1909) - Mrs. Mary Jane Atkins the wife of Mr. Oliver Gibbons and youngest daughter of ........and Anne Atkins, of St. Vincent Township passed peacefully away at her residence, Nelson Street, West, on Monday morning, Dec. 13th at the age of 57 years and 5 months.
   Deceased was born in St. Vincent July, 1852, and was one of a family of fourteen. In March 1872, she was married to Mr. Gibbons and has resided in Meaford ever since. By this union eight were born, three of whom with her sorrowing husband, survive. The family are as follows; Mr. O.S. Gibbons, Mrs. W.T. Barkley, Fenelon Falls; and Mrs. A.R. Hawkins, Meaford.
   Deceased was a consistent member of the Meaford Presbyterian church and attended regularly until her health declined some three years ago. She was of a quiet and reserved disposition and gave her attention to her home and family. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers; Mrs Jas. McCartney, 7th line, and Mrs. Jas Emery, Sr., Gravel Road, St. Vincent; and Mr. Jos Atkins, Brookholm, Owen Sound, and Mr. John T. Atkins, Neebesh, Mich. The funeral took place on Wednesday last to Meaford Cemetery and was largely attended.
