MEAFORD EXPRESS (1922) - After suffering for about two years with diabetes, the most of which time he was confined to his bed, Mr. Philip Chambers, for many years a well known bricklayer, stone mason and contractor in Meaford, died at his home on the seventh line, St. Vincent, at three o'clock Friday afternoon.
   The deceased who was in his 76th year, was well known throughout the county and particularly in Meaford, where he erected quite a number of houses during the time he was in the bricklaying and contracting business and such buildings as Muxlow's Drug store stand as a monument of his integrity and usefulness. He was a good mechanic and a faithful workman. He had the respect and confidence of all who knew him, especially the men who worked for him from time to time. His name is associated with many of the early enterprises in Meaford which have come down to us a legacy from the men whose keeness of vision enabled them to foretell what the future had in store for those who would follow them. In religion Mr. Chambers was a Presbyterian. He is survived by his widow and son and daughter, all of whom reside at home. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon to Lakeview Cemetery.
