MRS. ELIZA ALBERY DEAD
MEAFORD EXPRESS (1924) - The death occurred at Owen Sound on Wednesday morning, of Mrs. Eliza Albery, relict of the late John Albery, aged 85 years, 5 months and 5 days. The funeral will be held from the residence of her son, Mr. G.G. Albery, Meaford, on Friday afternoon.
She leaves a family of seven to mourn her loss; Margaret and Elva in Owen Sound, Annie and James in Toronto, Grace in Midland and G.G. in Meaford.
Coming to Canada as a child, she was orphaned by the death of her parents in Kingston, and was raised by the Purdys, coming to Meaford when about nine years of age, and living in this district continually since that time.
In the early seventies she was married to the late John Albery, who predeceased her twenty-eight years ago. She was formerly an Anglican, being confirmed as a child, but on arrival in Meaford joined the Disciples, as there was no Anglican Church here at the time.
Two years ago she went to Owen Sound to live with her daughter there. Her passing was after a growing weakness, as the result of the weight of years pressed down, but she retained her interest in the affairs around her until the end. Being very proficient at needlework, she continued her activities along this line to within a month of her passing; and was also greatly devoted to flowers.
The sympathy of all, is extended to bereaved family.
