Settler movement from Dufferin County

So you found them in Dufferin County but then your family disappears... Where did they go?

Some information on settlement movements can be found in the local newspaper. I will add more information to this site as I come across it.

i.e. Orangeville Sun March 17, 1898, p.2

"...people bound for Manitoba and the Northwest. A large number of friends saw them off. The following parties left this week:- Mr. and Mrs. David Henderson and Mrs. John Henderson of Mulmur for Carievale, Assa.; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Davison and family of Mulmur and Rich Davison and Lewis James of Horning's Mills for Bates, Man. Mr. John Carscarden, Mr. Ed. Ferris, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Carscarden and Miss Clark of Melancthon for Carman, Man. Mr. Jos. Corby and family of Mulmur for Carman. Mr. Thos. Wallace for Cartwright, Man. Jonathan Loudon and Thos. Gannon of Melancthon for Carman. Four cars of Settler effects, the property of Messrs. Ferris, Carscarden, Henderson and Davison were also taken from here this week. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. John Jones and family of Riverview and Mr. J. Williams of Amaranth left for Grenfell, Assa. - Shelburne Economist."
