July 15,p.3: Samuel Beatty - Samuel Beatty died at the residence of his brother, William, Carville, near Richmond Hill, on Friday night, aged 59 years. The remains were conveyed on Saturday night to Henry Beatty's hotel, Palgrave, from whence the funeral took place on Sunday to the English church cemetery near Mono Mills. Deceased was never married and was well known in the vicinity of Mono Mills and Palgrave.

July 15,p. 3: Mary Jane Hewitt - Mary Jane, dearly beloved wife of Mr. Robert Hewitt, died at her residence, 71 Beaconsfield Avenue, Toronto on Friday last after an illness of only nine days. Deceased was born in County Armagh, Ireland, 56 years ago, and for over thirty years was a resident of this town. The remains were brought to Orangeville on Monday morning's train, a special car being attached for the mourners and Rev. C.L. Ingles. The funeral proceeded to St. Mark's church, where the immense attendance showed how widespread is the sympathy for Mr. Hewitt and his family in their bereavement and affliction. There were present many friends who had personally known Mrs. Hewitt and appreciated her goodness and kindness of disposition. Before the closing prayers Rev. CL Ingles of Toronto preached a touching sermon, and Rev. Henderson also spoke feelingly of the goodness and true piety of the deceased, who in h er life, was an example to others in following the teachings of Christ, of being kind and considerate to others and practicing true Christian charity. Upon the conclusion of the service the cortege proceeded to Greenwood cemetery where the mortal remains of Mrs. Hewitt were committee to the grave. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers among them was the emblem "Gates Ajar", bearing the inspiration, "Wife and Mother", a handsome wreath from Mrs. James Hewitt of Orangeville; cross from Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Robinson, Toronto; bouquet, Mrs. J.E. Brayley, Toronto. If, in this hour of the saddest visitation of his life, the sympathies of friends and acquaintances are able to relieve somewhat his greatest sorrow at the death of his beloved wife, Mr. Hewitt will find that he has the most heartfelt expression of regret, not only of relations and intimate friends, but of the entire population of Orangeville.
