January 9, p.?: PLATT - Passed away at Dufferin Area Hospital, Orangeville on December 26, 1984, after several months illness, in his 91st year.

Mr. Platt was born in West Garafraxa Township, on December 31, 1893, the son of Samuel Platt and Mary Jane (Hughes). He moved to East Luther Township with his family when he was approximately 5 years of age and attended school located on the former Robert Watt farm property (prior to S.S. No. 4 school). Bruce worked on the family farm which he eventually took over and continued there until the property was purchased in conjunction with other local properties at the time the Conservation Authority erected the Luther Dam on the Grand River in the early 1950s. Mr. Platt re-located to Amaranth Township, purchasing the Sproat farm property, and his farming endeavours continued until his retirement in 1963 when he had a new home built on Gier Street. The last 3 years approximately were spent at the Grand Valley Manor Retirement Home.

Mr. Platt was predeceased by two brothers, George and Edward.

He is survived by his wife, Lavena (Storey), who now resides at Extendicare Canada Limited, 999 Lyons Lane, Oakville, Ontario, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Doris Platt, two nieces - Muriel (Williams) and Ivadelle (Quinn) and three nephews - Gordon, Don and Vera [sic].

The funeral service was held at Sime's Funeral Home, Grand Valley on December 28, 1984 with Rev. Dorinda Vollmer officiating. Honourary Pallbearers were Mrs. Jeanette Taylor, Harry Walker, Clifford Charter and Frank Gamble."
