Mar.19,p.:Eliza Jane (Armstrong) Duncan - A highly respected resident of the Black's Corners section, Eliza Jane Armstrong, widow of the late John Duncan, passed away at her residence, Lot 20, con. 7, Amaranth, on Sunday, March 8th, 1936, in her 63rd year, after an illness of only three days. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Armstrong, of Earnscliffe, and lived in Mulmur Township until her marriage, since when she had lived in Amaranth. Mr. Duncan died in August, 1926. Three sons - John R., Clifford E. and Elwin A., all of Amaranth, and two grandchildren survive; also one sister, Mrs. Thos. Sawyers, Violet Hill and one brother, James Armstrong, Crombie. Deceased was a member of the United Church. She was a kind and loving mother and a good neighbor, being always ready to extend a helping hand in time of sickness or trouble. The funeral took place to Shelburne Cemetery, Tuesday, afternoon, March 10th, the service at the home being conducted by Rev. F.J. Dunlop, of Laurel United Church, and at the grave by Rev. C.E. Dyer, of Knox United Church, Shelburne, The pallbearers were Wm. Banks, Harold Peterson, Lone David, John Richey, John Johnston and David Rintoul. The flowerbearers were Alex. Armstrong, Milton Armstrong, Lorne Armstrong, Fred Duncan, Minnie and Lillie Sawyers. The floral tributes were: Pillow, the family; spray, Mrs. Thos. Sawyers; spray, grandchildren; spray, Mr. John Hammond and family, Toronto; spray, Mrs. Robt. Rintoul, Toronto; spray, Miss Sadie Billings. Friends from other points who attended the funeral were; Miss Lila Hammond, Toronto; Mrs. Thos. Sawyers and family, Violet Hill; Messrs. Alex. Milton, Lorne and Geo. Armstrong, Mansfield; Mrs. John Arsmtrong, Earnscliffe; Mrs. Jos. Haddock, Violet Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson, Violet Hill; Mrs. Harvey Richardson, Whitfield; Mr. John Richey, Whitfield.
