WAGONER COUNTY

NORRIS A. FLETCHER, Wagoner. Son Of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Fletcher, of Wheatland, was born in Clifton County, Illinois, July 4, 1890. He received his education in the Oklahoma schools. On September 19, 1917, Mr. Fletcher enlisted in the Army—one of the first to leave Wheatland—and was sent to Camp Travis, training with Co. A, 357th Infantry, 90th Division. With them he sailed for France in June, 1918, and after a few months of intensive training he  was promoted to Wagoner. He was sent to the front, and saw service in the two great offensives, the St. Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne. At one time Wagoner Fletcher had just stepped away from his team when a shell struck and killed one of his mules. He was with the Army of Occupation in Germany from December to May, returning then to the United States, and was discharged from Camp Pike June 21, 1919.
