SEMINOLE COUNTY

SAM HOUSTON CALEY. son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Caley, was born in Naples. Texas, June a 1897. enlisted Sept. 5, 1918; trained at Camp Logan did not go overseas; discharged at Camp Logan March. 1919.

C. B. CALEY. son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S Caley Wewoka. Okla., was born in Arkansas. July 11. 1894: enlisted May 23. 1918. trained at Cam Bowie: overseas July 31. 1918; landed in France discharged at Camp Mills, in May, 1919.

THOMAS C. CANSLER, son of E. T and Tere Cansler. Wewoka. Okla., was born in. Texas. Sept. 11, 1895; enlisted Sept, 19. 1917 trained at Camp Travis; overseas in May, 1918 at France, discharged at Camp Pike, March 27, 1919.

GROVER A. WHITE, son of Mrs. Delia White. Wewoka, Okla., was born in Alabama. October 4, 1897; enlisted in September, 1917; one trip across discharged at New York, March 3, 1919.

JOHN T. BUSSEY He heard the call of the world for aid, and journeyed over land and seas to defend the cause of humanity. At St. Etienne, where death rushed in a carnage of destruction, he made the supreme sacrifice, laying his life upon the altar of Liberty that the Christian world might live. Wherever patriots live and Freedom’s flag waves his name will endure. He upheld the traditions of his country and died the death of a Hero. John T. Bussey, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bussey, was born in Ardmore, Okla., Jan. 7, 1889, and educated in the state’s public schools. Entered the service May 26, 1918, and received his military training at Camp Bowie, Company A, 141st Infantry, 36th Division; embarked overseas July 9, 1918, and landed in France; participated in the battles of Meuse-Argonne and St Etienne; killed in action, Oct 8, 1918, by machine gun bullet; promoted to First Class Private; awarded Croix de Guerre, Palm and French Memorial.

GILBERT LACKEY COBLE, Sailor, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Coble, Konawa, Okla., was born in Tennessee, Dec. 10, 1896; educated in the schools of Konawa, Okla. Entered the service April 18, 1917, and received his Naval training at the Great Lakes Training Station; advanced to Fireman Third Class and Electrician; on Convoy duty and then on duty in the North Sea, where he was stricken with the influenza, which resulted in his death, June 19, I9l8, aboard a British Hospital ship. He was buried with full military honors. He gave his life in the great cause of humanity.

GEORGE WILLIAM COBLE, Private, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Coble, Konawa, Okla., was born in Tennessee, August 9, 1890, and educated in the schools of his native state. Entered the service in l9l8. and received his military training at Jefferson Barracks and Camp Eustis, Virginia, Battery D, 45th Regiment, Co. 18; embarked overseas Oct. 12, 1918, and landed in France; guard in German prison camp. Discharged in 1919.
