THERON CLARK TUTTLE. son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Tuttle. Chandler, born March 5, 1889, in Illinois. Educated in Illinois and Oklahoma. Entered service April 26. 1918; trained at Camp Travis with 90th Division. To France June, 1918. fought at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. Discharged at Camp Pike in June, 1919.
WILLIAM RUSSELL LOMER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Lomer, Chandler, born in Missouri, Jan. 15, 1890; educated in Chandler; entered service June 26. 1918; trained at Camp Cody with 36th. To France August 24. 1918, with Co. M. 164th Reg., 41st Div. Discharged at Cheyenne, March 6, 1919.
HERMAN C. FLOWERS, son of Mrs. Sarah Means, Chandler, born Oct. 28, 1893, at Haynes, Ark. Educated in Lincoln county. Entered service Aug. 28. 1918; trained at Camp Pike. To France Nov. 2. 1918, with Co. F. 108th Inf.. 27th Div. Discharged April 7. 1919, at Camp Pike.
JAMES H. MEANS, son of Mrs. Sarah Means, Chandler, born Oct. 9, 1896. in Lincoln county, and educated at Chandler. Entered service Aug. 7, 1918; trained at Camp Mabry and Ft Sill, with 351st Motor Transport. Was in hospital at Denver ten weeks. Discharged there July 23, 1918.
EARL BRAY, First Sgt., son of B.. F. Bray, Chandler, was born in Tennessee. June 8. 1890. and educated in Chandler. Entered service Oct. 3, 1918; trained at Camp Travis, with 142nd Div. Transferred to Vancouver. Wash., where he was discharged Feb. 28. 1919.
EDWARD B. SHERMAN, son of V. A Sherman. Chandler, born in Missouri. March 18, 1894; educated in Chandler schools. Entered service April 5, 1917. Trained at Fort Sill and Camp Bowie, Co. B. 142nd Inf., 36th Division. Overseas July, 1918, Co. F. 165th Inf.. 90th Div. Gassed while serving on St. Mihiel and Verdun fronts. Discharged at Ft. Sill. March, 1919.
ARVID E. WILSON, son of O. B. and Mattie Wilson. Shawnee, born in Tennessee. Nov. 19, 1895; entered service Nov. 18, 1918; trained at Camp Custer, Mich, Overseas, served in 310th Trench Motor Battery Toul Sector. Discharged at Camp Merritt, N. J., March, 1919.
CLINTON E. THOMPSON Private. Son of Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Thompson, Merrick, Okla., was born in Miami County, Indiana, Oct 7, 1883; was educated in the schools of Kansas. He entered the service Dec. 3, 1913, spending two years on the Mexican border and one year with the Regular Regiment; embarked overseas in September, 1917, and landed in France; assigned to Company A, 23rd Infantry, 2nd Division, and spent 23 months in France; fought in the battle of Troyan, Aisne, Chateau Thierry, Marne, St Mihiel, Champagne and the Meuse-Argonne; gassed to almost total blindness, but recovered. This soldier has an excellent record throughout his career and was among the few selected from his old Company to go to France. He is still in the army.
CHARLEY H ESTES, Private. Another of those brave heroes who offered up their lives on the altar of Liberty. He fought at St. Mihiel and the Argonne. He was shot in the head and died November 9, 1918, at Field Hospital No. 166, 117th Sanitary Train, A. E. F. Charley H. Estes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carry E. Estes, Enid, Okla. , was born in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, May 29, 1897; educated in the schools of Lincoln County, Oklahoma; entered the service July 28, 1918, and received his military training at Ft. Sill and then Camp Bowie, Co. B, 142nd Infantry, 36th Division; embarked overseas July 2, 1918, and landed in France; promoted to First Class Private.
CHAS. S. BOUSE, son of Mrs. M. E. Bouse, Chandler, Okla., was born in Unity, Mo.. July 21, 1894, and educated in Missouri. Entered training May 5, 1917, and trained with 36th Division at Ft. Sill and Camp Bowie. Went to France with 36th Division in August, 1918, and fought at Champagne and St Etienne. Was killed at St. Etienne Oct. 8, 1918. Received citation from French Government.
ELMO D. FLYNT, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Flynt, Chandler, Okla., was born there Sept. 5, 1895, and educated in Chandler and Norman. Entered service May 5, 1917, and trained with 36th Division at Ft. Sill and Camp Bowie. Went to France with 36th. Was promoted to First Lieutenant. Fought at St. Etienne and received citation from France.
ROBERT EARL KELLY, son of Mr. and Mrs. a W. Kelly, Wellston, Okla., was born in Texas, July 18, 1894, and educated in Lincoln County schools. Entered service Feb. 22, 1918, and trained at Camp Travis with Co. C, 357th Inf., 90th Division. To France in July, 1918. and fought at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. Went over top many times. Was killed March 6, 1918, and is buried in France.
EDWARD C. ROBERTSON, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Robertson, Davenport. Okla., was born in Davenport, July 29, 1895, and educated there and in Oklahoma City. Entered service December 12, 1917, and trained with the 31st Balloon Co. at Ft Sill. Transferred to 22nd U. S. Guard at Globe, Arizona. Discharged at San Antonio, Feb. 28, 1919.
WILLIAM C. PARNELL, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Parnell, Meeker, Okla., was born in Oklahoma, Sept 12, 1896, and educated in Oklahoma. Entered service Aug. 8, 1917, at Camp Fremont Cal., and trained with Company C, Second Infantry. Sent to Camp Merritt for several months’ training before discharged in March, 1919.
LOUIS EDWARD PARNELL, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Parnell. Meeker, Okla., born in Oklahoma, Dec. 8, 1896, and educated in Oklahoma schools. Entered service May 4, 1917, and trained at Ft Logan, Colo. Was promoted to Sergeant Major and sent to Honolulu. Discharged from Camp Dodge, February, 1919. While in Honolulu he was Guard at wireless station and over German ships.
H. B. BLACK, son of Mrs. Forrest Black, Wellston, Okla., was born in Wicker, Arkansas, Nov. 24, 1897, and educated there. Entered service in May, 1917, and trained at Boston in the Radio Service. Discharged at St. Louis, in February, 1919,
JAMES ROBERT McCORKLE. son of E. S. McCorkle, Chandler, Okla., was born Oct. 16, 1895, at Chandler, Okla., and educated there. Entered service June 26, 1918, and trained at Camp Cody and Camp Dix. Sailed for France, Sept. 14, 1918; was stricken with influenza and died before reaching there. Was buried with full military honors at sea.
