Young's Crossing
"Ghost" town of 
Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma

Location: 3 miles west of the southeast corner of the Pottawatomie county line
Established:  1893
Named for: George Young

Young's Crossing never had a postoffice but was a well established town consisting mostly of saloons.  The town was established on George Young's land which joined the Canadian River.  There were five well known crossings of the river adjoining southern Pottawatomie county.  These five crossings were from east to west: 

Corner Crossing, 
Young's Crossing,
Graveyard Crossing,
Cook's Crossing
Johnston Crossing.

 George Young had the first general store in town in addition to owning one of the saloons.  Other families living near the area were:

Eli Nadeau, 
Isabelle Nobles, 
Joel N. Nichols, 
Andrew J. Berry, 
Levi Shaw, 
"Wi'kja", and 
Welling Wood.
