PLEASANT PRAIRIE
"Ghost" town of 
Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma

Location:  5 miles west of Asher
Established:  Early spring of 1871
 

Early in 1871, 14 covered wagons arrived in the new reservation area bringing 7 Pottawatomie families to their allotments of land.  The "wagon train" was led by Joe Melot and included:

John Anderson
Josua E. Clardy
Pete Anderson
George Pettifer
The Purjon Family
The Toupain family

By the end of 1871 the population had grown to 28 which included:
Johnson
Clinton
L.R. Darling
Antoine Bourbonnais
The Neadeau Family
George Young Family
