The old Jumper school house, one mile north of the town, remained there for many years after the demise of the town. Charley H. Smith had a store in Jumper. Emit Clary was a school teacher. Bill Maxey, also an early day teacher at Jumper, first lived in a canvass tent. The old Martin-Hill school was a mile south of the town. Early day families included:
