"Ghost" town of Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma Location: about 5 miles northwest of Keokuk Falls
The town of Dent originally started north of the county line in Lincoln County, about six miles southwest of Prague. First postmaster was Frank R. Vlasak. At one time the thriving little town even had a town volunteer musical band. However, in 1901, the whole town, which then had dwindled to only one store, moved lock, stock and barrel across the Pottawatomie County line and started operation. The store owner brought his post office with him, and apparently never thought it important to notify Washington of his move.
