M. E. Herring, 63,
Lumberman, Dies

Michael Eugene Herring, 63, of 632 NE 9, city wholesale lumber dealer, died Sunday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Burial" will be in Arlington Memorial Cemetery. Herring was born in Clarksville, Ark., and came to Oklahoma City in 1929. He worked as a contractor. Following World War II he founded the M. Herring Wholesale Lumber Co. At the time of his death, he was executive vice president of the company.

He was a veteran of World War I. Herring was a member of Sooner Baptist Church.

Herring was recognized as a pioneer in the field of long distance lumber hauling and received much national recognition for his operation.

Surviving are his wife, Flossie J. of the home, a son Michael Morris Herring and a sister, Mrs. Anne Lockwood, Canton, Ill
