EDMOND — Juanita Parkhurst McMillian, 93, a lifelong resident of Edmond, Okla., passed away May 2, 2010 in Oklahoma City. Juanita was born December 24, 1916 in Edmond to Robert L. and Susie Elizabeth (Frye) Mushrush .

She was a graduate of Britton High School. She and her husband Irvin owned and operated the Edmond Livestock Auction in the late 40’s, then they opened the Lariat Café on 2nd and Broadway in the early 50’s. Irvin passed away in Dec. of 1953.

Juanita went to work at Holiday Inn as a waitress and then went to school to become a beauty operator and did that for many years in Edmond. She ran the concession at the Edmond Auction for more than 20 years.

Juanita was a longtime member of the Amazing Grace Chapel in Oklahoma City and later she attended the Spring Creek Assembly of God Church in Edmond.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Gerald and Paula Parkhurst of Arcadia; LaNita and C. Roger Billen of Jones; grandchildren, Mike Billen, Chuck Billen, Ronita Billen, Jackie Horton, Cheryl Williams, Thomas Gerald Parkhurst Jr., Tanner, Lydia and T.J. Justis and 16 great-grandchildren.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be 2 pm Monday, May 10th 2010, at Spring Creek Assembly of God Church in Edmond with interment at Grace lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to People Caring for People.
