Edith Zahniser Lawton, born July 25, 1899, died June 16, 1994 at the age of 94 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver, of 64 years. Edith graduated from Chesbrough College, Rochester, N.Y. and then taught school until she married January 2, 1928. She and Oliver pastored the Free Methodist Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Her next mission endeavor was operating the Light and Life Mission in Oklahoma City for 35 years. During that time, she was active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Prohibition party for which she ran for the Oklahoma State Senate in 1940.

In her later years, she served as the matriarch of her family which included three sons, Kennison, V.Z. and Wayne and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Service s will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 1994 at the Bible Missionary Church, 7000 NW 36 St.
