Jewel M. Uselton, 66, died at her home in Choctaw after a short battle with cancer. Jewel was born on July 2, 1942 in Norman to Minnie and Jim Stinson. She attended Midwest City High School where she met and married her soul mate and love of her life.

Jerry and Jewel Uselton were married on Jan. 21, 1959. They just celebrated 50 years of marriage, which began with 20 years of patience and training of Jerry and concluded with 30 years of marital bliss. After lovingly raising their 4 children she joined the workforce where she spent the last 20 plus years in the surgical pathology department on the OU Medical Campus.

Jewel was preceded in death by her mother and father, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Uselton of the home, son Bill Uselton, daughters: Kelly Shatswell and husband David, Judi McMillian and husband Mike, Leslie Drake and husband Dave, 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren with one more on the way, all of Choctaw. She is also survived by 2 sisters and many treasured sisters and brothers by marriage. The family would like to thank her co-workers at the OU Medical Center for all their love and unwavering support. We would also like to thank the workers at Good Shepard Hospice for their support and heartfelt caring shown to our precious mother and family during this difficult time.

Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2009 at the funeral home chapel with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens.
