Ray Rogers, 72, friend, father, grandfather, husband, civic leader and horseman, passed away on November 25, 2005, of heart failure after a long battle with COPD. Born to Dennis Alexander and Ola Irene Rogers in Fort Worth, Texas, Ray long claimed Happy, Texas (the town without a frown) as his hometown, but made Central Oklahoma home, contributing to the communities of Midwest City, Choctaw, and Edmond. Ray attended Happy High School in Happy, Texas, and the University of Texas before embarking on a career in banking and finance. He began his career with American Finance & Thrift Corporation and most prominently Ray served as Vice President of American Bank & Trust in Edmond, founding President of Choctaw State Bank in Choctaw. Of his many civic contributions Ray is remembered as one of the founders and first President of the Edmond 4th of July Celebration, as well of a past president of the Edmond Roundup Club and Kiwanis Club. Ray was also a founding member of the Choctaw Chamber of Commerce and the Choctaw-Nicoma Park Public School Foundation. Ray, an avid horseman, promoted his Green Tree Farms brand in the American Quarter Horse Association, American Cutting Horse Association and a director of the National Cutting Horse Association. Ray was a member and past National Bull Riding Director to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and past President and Adult Advisor to the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association.

He is survived by his wife Dani, step daughter Sheri Hartman of Oklahoma City, son Zane Rogers of Dallas, Texas, daughter Robyn Sellers and husband Billy of Midwest City, and three grandchildren, Ryann, Wiley and Cade.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, two sisters, and his oldest son Dennis Rogers . Viewing will begin Saturday at noon at Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home in Midwest City. Funeral services to celebrate Ray's life and legacy will be held Monday morning, November 28th, 2005. Ray's infectious smile and enthusiasm will long be remembered as Ray's family will receive friends at 9:30am, with services to follow at 10am and burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw.
