A supply clerk and retired serviceman received a new heart Wednesday in a transplant operation at St. Anthony Hospital, a spokeswoman for the hospital's cardiovascular institute said.

Barbara Anderson said Vito Mazza, 54, of Del City, was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.

The hospital said Mazza, who served in the Air Force for 22 years before retiring and becoming a supply clerk at Tinker Air Force Base, suffered from cardiomyopathy.

Mazza is expected to remain in an isolation suite for the next few days. He is the seventh person to undergo a heart transplant at the institute.
