Ralph Harold Girton went to be with our Lord peacefully on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on Christmas Day, 1922 to Ralph and May Girton. He attended Jackson Jr. College studying pre-med until 1941, when he joined the Armed Services. Ralph then made the Army a 30-year career serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He truly loved the Army, and became an expert Artilleryman specializing in the field of guided missiles. While serving his Country, he continued his education, earning a BS in Business from the University of Omaha and an MBA in Finance from Syracuse University. His long and distinguished career promoted him to full Bird Colonel and led him and his family to assignments from the mainland of the United States to Europe, Hawaii and Asia. Finally, retirement brought him to Edmond, Oklahoma, where throughout those years, he remained a devoted family man enjoying travel, swimming, fishing and being an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Edmond.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 63 years, Allene; a daughter, Lori Kaelber and her husband Keith of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Margie Girton of Leawood, Kansas, Bennie Tipton of Lewisville, Texas, Sheryl Warrick of Wellston, Oklahoma, Susan Blanton of Chandler, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Roger Harrod of Konawa, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Allen, a younger brother, Larry and his parents. We will all miss his sense of humor, his hearty laugh and his love of life, but we will long remember how he touched each one of our lives in his own special way! "Let us not mourn the loss of the flame, but let us remember how brightly it shined."

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
