The brick structure was built by John Komma in 1928 to house the Mapes and Komma Grocery & market, later known as Komma Grocery.  The south half of the building has been occupied by a bakery, cafe, barber shop, a dry good store, and an insurance agents office. It is interesting to note that during the 1930's, Carmen Hendricks Jones opened a cafe in this "spot".  She served down home food to local citizens.  The kind we dream about today, beef stews with real flavor, chili, fried chicken, vegetables in season, real fruit pies and cobblers in season also beans and corn bread.

This structure has a pre-Depression classification.  It is built on the site of one of the original blacksmith shops.

The Komma Building is the oldest business building in Owasso. It was purchased in 1987 by the Owasso Historical Society as a museum to safely keep the current an future historical artifacts and memorabilia of Owasso's history.  The museum currently has a great collection of past era items.  Every so often something show up that is thought to have been lost and gone forever.
