John Berton Mayfield, age 77, of Poteau, OK, passed away
Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at his home in Poteau. John was born
May 23, 1928 in Wister, OK, to Bert and Bonnie (Blaylock)
Mayfield. John was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church
of Wister, a member of the Poteau Masonic Lodge #46 and was a
retired Chief of Police of Woodlake, California.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and
two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Crystal of the home; two sons,
Mike Mayfield and wife Nancy, of Marcola, OR, and Brad Mayfield
and wife Sally, of Tulare, CA; one daughter, Lorie Ann
(Mayfield) Ure of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Traci
Schiller, Christopher Mayfield, and Jennifer Wheeler; five
great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Barrett, of Big Bear,
CA, many other family, friends, and loved ones.
Services will be Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the First
Southern Baptist Church in Wister, OK, with the Rev. Don Taylor
officiating. Interment will follow at the
Monroe Cemetery, Monroe,
OK, under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
