Former Poteau May Is Dead
        Services Held

POTEAU. March 18—Services far Buel Clayton Tidwell, former mayor, who died in LeFlore county Memorial hospital Friday following a heart attack, were held Sunday at First Methodist church.

Burial was in Oakland cemetery under direction of Miller funeral home.

Tidwell, co-owner of a cleaning establishment, had lived here since 1917. A World war I veteran, he was commander of the American Legion post for several years.

He was a past chairman of the  Methodist church board and sang in the church choir and the Poteau Businessmen’s Choral club. He was a 30-year member of Rotary.

Tidwell served as mayor of Poteau from 1949 through 1951.

Survivors are his wife: a daughter. Jo Ann Tidwell of Hobbs. N. M.: a son. Bob Tidwell of Memphis. Tenn.; two sisters. Mrs. Oscar Williams of Fort Smith. Ark. and Mrs. R. II. Lloyd of Tulsa: and a brother, L. A. Tidwell of Joplin, Mo.
