James C. Collins, 86, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005 in Poteau. He was born February 18, 1919, in Spiro, Oklahoma. He was a veteran and retired civil service employee.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gladys Irene Collins; one daughter, Mary Vinson; three brothers, Elmer Collins, Bill Collins and Carl Collins; one sister, Ellen Martin.

He is survived by five sons; Donald and wife Carol of Poteau, Charles and wife Susan of Ventura, CA, Ronald and wife Glenda of Hot Springs, AR, Doug of Poteau and Robert of Magine, AR; one daughter, Carolyn Evens and husband Tim of Poteau; two sisters, Viola Means of Las Vegas, NV and Sidgie Lewis also of Las Vegas; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family. Pallbearers will be Shannon Collins, Jeremy Killion, Joshua Lasota, Junior Crase, Rodney Lasota and Charles Ralls.

Services will be held graveside at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 27, 2005, at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, OK, with Rev. Clyde Hess officiating. Viewing is scheduled Wednesday, October 26, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau, OK.
