Doris J. (Sanders) Blaine, 77, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Ms Blaine was born February 13, 1928, in Poteau, to Edward and Truppy (Parks) Sanders. She attended Manual Training High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma, graduating in 1945. She attended Langston University, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Blaine taught at Latham School as an elementary teacher. She also taught at Stringtown High School and the American School in Germany. She left the teaching profession to become a homemaker. She traveled extensively and returned to Poteau in 1981, where she resided until her death.

Ms. Blaine was preceded in death by her father, Edward Sanders; her mother, Truppy Parks Smith; her husband, Sammy L. Blaine, and her sister, Edwina Sanders Lynn.

Survivors included her son, Jerry Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Norman, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Donielle Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Dr. Letha A. See and her husband, Col. William R. See, of Marietta, Georgia; two special nephews, Ricky Lynn and Fiancee Evelyn of Akron, Ohio; Terry L. See and his wife, Linda, of Naperville, Illinois; one niece, Lisa Madlock and her husband, Wylie, of Poteau; a special cousin, Clinton J. Ezell and his wife, Yvette, of Shawnee, Kansas; nephews, Brandon Choice and Omeyell Steele; nieces, Taylor, Jasmine, and Jordan See along with a host of other loved ones and friends. Pallbearers will be Wylie Madlock, Brandon Choice, Omeyell Steele, Sterling Warren, Bob Thompson, and Joey Ezell. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2006, and the family will greet friends from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 26, 2006, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel in Poteau with the Pastor Jerry Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
