Elsie Atchison was born January 20, 1937 in Charleston, AR, the eldest of ten children born to Ira & Helen Flynn. She died on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the age of 72.

Elsie , at the age of 24, married Thomas Brooks. They had 4 girls and 2 boys. On March 22, 1997, she married Bill Atchison and became step mother to two step daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family very much.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Atchison; her brothers, James Flynn, William Flynn, Ira Flynn, Jackie Flynn, and Ronnie Flynn; sisters, Letha Harrison, Mary Gray, Betty McDonald and Janice Johnson; her daughters, Wanda Fisher, Debra Lecompte, Melissa Sanders and Patrisha Best; sons, Eugene Brooks and Thomas Brooks; sons-in-law, Vince Lecompte, Kirk Lumus, Danny Ritchie, and Roger Best; 5 grandsons: Johnny Brooks, Jason Brooks, Sherman “Bubby” Best, Roger Best, Jr. and Christian Best; 11 granddaughters, Cherrl Bosh, Debra Tatum, Candy Lindsey, April Ford, Jacqueline Wolfe, Janette Fisher, Tina Brooks, Dominique Best, Lashonda Best, Christina Brooks, Amelia Best and fourteen great grandchildren: Sarann, Skyland, Julie, Cheyenne, Kaylynn, Makayla, Kaden, Dakota, Grant, Colby, Kayle, Hannah, Kristin, and Page; and step daughters, Bissy & Sharolyn Kay. Preceding her in death were her parents and her first husband, Thomas Brooks.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, OK with Pastor Darell Johnson officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Ford, Jason Brooks, Dason Lindsey, Clint Gray, Mitchell Lamar, Charlie Gray, Ira, James, William, Jack and Ronnie Flynn.

The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee with the arrangements.
