Alma Williams, 79, of Spiro, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 15, 1922 at Spiro to Elisha Hardy and Nancy Emmaline (Ruyle) Baxter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Grace Monks, Lucy Hargis, Beatrice Clouse, Lavada Hoffman; and four brothers, Buck, Irby, Clayton and Virgil Baxter.
Survivors include her husband Leon of the home; one daughter, Vera Tackett of Poteau; two sons, J.L. Williams and Harl Williams, both of Spiro; two brothers, Jack Baxter of Modesto, Calif. and Howard Baxter of Shady Point; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Flanagan officiating. Burial followed in
New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Hargis, James Baxter, Warner Baxter, Duane Williams, David Williams and Mark Hale.
