Choctaw Robert H. Sockey (Bob), passed away January 3,
1989 near Bokoshe at the age of 73. He was born March 9, 1915 at Bokoshe, Oklahoma. He attended grade school at the Jones Academy Indian School, Hartshorne, Oklahoma. He attended High School at Panama, Oklahoma for two years before joining the Civilian Conservation Corps, Indian Division Five Civilized Tribes at Bull Hollow Camp, Oklahoma. He served with Company I of the 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division during World War II.
Services were held at the Freewill Baptist Church in Panama with Reverend Carl G. Pugh officiating. Burial was in the
Johnico Indian Cemetery west of Panama. He was very active in community affairs.
He is survived by one sister, Evalena W. Garrison of Woodward, Oklahoma, three brothers; Elza of Hackensack, New Jersey, Reuben L. of Tuskahoma, Clennon E. of Muldrow and several nieces and nephews.

Reuben Lamar Sockey, age 78, of Tuskahoma, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, June 13, 1998. He was born on August 14, 1919 near Boskoshe, Oklahoma. Mr. Sockey was the son of the late Richard Anderson Sockey, Sr. and Minnie E. Tubbs. Reuben was a veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre and was a member of the American Legion of Talihina. Mr. Sockey also worked as a government employee at the Talihina Indian Hospital, retiring after 25 years of service. He was a member of several leadership jobs at the First Baptist Church of Tuskahoma.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita; two daughters, Norma Austin and Charlotte Uswell, both of Clayton, Oklahoma; three sons, Billy Dean Sockey, of Snow, Oklahoma, Reuben Sockey, Jr, and Robert Sockey of Poteau, Oklahoma; one brother, Clennon E. Sockey, of Muldrow, Oklahoma; one sister, Evalena W. Garrison, of Muldrow; three granddaughters, ten grandsons, nine great-grandchildren nod several nieces and nephews.
