Opal Marie Self, 76, of Van Buren died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at a local hospital. She was a beautician and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Self.

Survivors include one son, Bob Merchant of Van Buren; one granddaughter, Kelly Metts of Rowlett, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Colby Tyler Roberson and Noah Merchant Hinkle; one sister, Mildred Faulkenberrry of Poteau.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
