Violet "Shorty" Sanders, 84, of Spiro, a homemaker, died Monday, July 12, 1999, in a Fort Smith hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Cora (Padgett) Brigance; a daughter, Jewell Rust; four sisters, Veronica Dameron, Vivian Lowery, Valera Scates and Verdie Sult; two brothers, Elmer Brigance and Bill Brigance; and a grandson, James Morelock.
She is survived by three daughters, Naomi Bourne and Bonnie Woods, both of Spiro, and Patsy Black of Panama; one son, Virgil Dameron of Tahlequah; one sister, Vaneda Guinn of California; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, with burial following there. Pallbearers will be Tommy Rust, Kevin Holt, Jerry Jones, Raymon Jones, Louie Covington, and Richard Hartley.
Arrangements were under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
