Robert E. "Butch" Ray, 51, of Wister, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002. He was born July 6, 1951 in Wister. He was a small engine mechanic, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Bertha Ray; and one brother, Junior Ray.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Jason Curtis of Ponca City; one step daughter, Shyla Williams of Ponca City; one grandson, Chandler Curtis of Ponca City; two step grandsons, Trent and Jayse of Ponca City; one step granddaughter, Ciara of Ponca City; one sister and brother-in-law, Ayline and Junior Welch of Oklahoma City; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Audrey Ray of Texarkana, Texas; Cecil and Bonna Ray, Jerry and Annette Ray and Cotton and Marilyn Ray, all of Wister; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Ellis Chapel Church in Wister with the Rev. Jack Covey officiating. Burial will follow in
Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
