Charlene McLaughlin, 63, of Heavener, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002. She was a resident since 1992 and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Poteau.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. "Tater" McLaughlin.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Moore of Evansville, Ind.; six sons, Davy and Danny McLaughlin, both of Heavener, Brian McLaughlin of Big Cedar, Warren Chavers of Henderson, Ken., Clyde Chavers of Heavener and Rick Mintz of Poteau; three sisters, Willie Brooks of Antlers, Mary Bell of El Reno, Vessie Willhite of Greenwood, Ark.; one brother, Denver Whitmore of Wister; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at the First Baptist Church of Heavener. Burial will follow at Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.


W.D. "Tater" McLaughlin, 66, of Heavener, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002. He was a retired coal miner, a farmer and rancher and a resident of Heavener since 1992.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene of the home.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Moore of Evansville, Ind.; six sons, Davy and Danny McLaughlin, both of Heavener, Brian McLaughlin of Big Cedar, Warren Chavers of Henderson, Ky., Clyde Chavers of Heavener and Rick Mintz of Poteau; four sisters, Ruby Steelman, Lillie Steelman and Rose Chaney, all of Heavener and Velma Nobles of Hot Springs, Ark.; two brothers, Paul McLaughlin of Heavener and Tom McLaughlin of Corydon, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at the First Baptist church of Heavener. Burial will follow at Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
