R.P. Lyons, 72, of Wister, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002, in Poteau. He was born Oct. 24, 1929.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wister.
Survivors include his wife Darlene of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Carl Whatley of Moorsville, N.C. and Brenda McBride of California; one stepdaughter, Monica Shepard of Wister; one stepson, Albert Lee Mize Jr. of El Reno; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved of friends.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15 at First Assembly of God Church in Poteau with the Rev. Jack Covey and Bill Willis officiating. Burial followed in
Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
