Mary Halcomb, 91, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 3, 1908, in Dardenelle, Ark., to Alt and Willie (Limbird) Atchinson. She was the widow of Mason Louis "Bug" Halcomb, a retired nurse's aide at Saint Edward's hospital, a member of the Methodist faith, and attended Lakeview Baptist Church in Spiro.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James McClain Halcomb; one sister, Thelma Self; and one brother, Tom Atchinson.
Mrs. Halcomb is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Cox of Spiro; two sons, Louis Halcomb and wife, Jean, and Tom Halcomb, all of Spiro; one sister, Billie Faye Freeman of Eufaula; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, at Mallory Chapel with the Rev. Sid Ree officiating. Burial will follow at
New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
