Evelyn Grace Gann, 91, of Houston, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002. She was born July 18, 1911 at Talihina to Avada and Thomas Howell. She earned her bachelors degree in education and taught at Talihina Schools. She retired in 1976 after 42 years of teaching. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Talihina where she served on the administrative board, taught Sunday School, was president of the Women's Society of Christian Service and was active in fund raisers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer Lee Gann; and her sister, Bernice McGuire.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Bernice and Dr. Larry Brown of Houston; two granddaughters, Lori and Bryan Cruises of Allen, Texas and Susan and Brian Zerger of Keller, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Blake Cruises, Emily and Patrick Cruises and Elizabeth Grace Zerger; nieces and nephews, Mrs. Diane Stinger of Owasso, Dr. and Mrs. William E. McGuire of Oklahoma City and Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford T. McGuire of Birmingham, Ala.
Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28 in the First United Methodist Church of Talihina with the Rev. James Ogden officiating. Burial followed at the
Old Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were David King, Don Faulkner, Leon Hanebrink, Gene Kirkes, Bill Stringer and Brad Stringer.
Honorary pallbearers were Lester Doughty, Jim Lester, Floyd Anderson, Reed Taylor, Jon Waggoner, Carl Cheatham, Gilbert Smallwood, Ray Henson, Paul Massey, Keith James and Paul Lawson.
