Nellie Jewel Davis
Nellie Jewel Davis, 63, of Smithville, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Fort Smith. She was born March 1, 1939 at Poteau to Dudley Hendrix and Marie Morris-Hendrix. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she had lived in the Smithville area all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Glen Earl Murray; one grandson, Jimmy Bryan Murray; two brothers, Buddy Hendrix and Raymond Hendrix; two sisters, Hazel Stevens and Faye Rainhart.
Survivors include her husband, John Andy Davis of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Dale and Tammy Murray of Smithville, Lloyd and Kerri Murray of Watson and Tim and Brenda Murray, of McAlester; one daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Jimmie Glen Branson of Broken Bow; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Essie Cisco of Turlock, Calif., Barbara Ballard of Alapena, Ark., Betty Cline of Wichita, Kan., Elsie Galohart of Panama; two brothers, Harvey Hendrix of Smithville and William Hendrix of Lawton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at the Octavia Baptist Church with the Revs. Ed Rogers and Wayne Kersh officiating. Burial will follow at the
Ludlow Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steven Branson, Anthony Loving, Corbis Murray, Landon Murray, Trenton Branson and Jessie Williams.
