Edith Roberts-Daney, 94, passed away Friday, May 31, 2002, in Oklahoma City. She was born Sept. 11, 1907 in Whitefield to George Roberts and Alta Parnell-Roberts.

She married Ben Daney Feb. 14, 1925 in Tuskahoma. She raised her family with great love and care that was a true strength in her life. She served the Lord along side her husband in church ministries in Talihina, Sasakwa, Ada, Ardmore, Fittstown and McAlester. They were also instrumental in establishing Indian missions in Hugo, the Indian Youth Camp at Kiamichi Baptist Assembly and were members of the Choctaw-Chickasaw Baptist Association. She was active in Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) Organization in support of the local and world missions.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Denver and Oren Roberts.

Survivors include seven children, Louise and David Paddlety of Anadarko, Herschell and Vicki Daney of Sand Springs, Peggy and John Shoemaker of Moore, Billie and the late Joe Engavo of Fort Washakie, Wyo., Jean and Dennis Florence of Oklahoma City, Dan and Lynda Daney of Blackfoot, Idaho and Melody and Steve Brown of Sand Springs; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Leslie Clark officiating. Burial will follow in New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Mark Shoemaker, Bruce Shoemaker, Ben Sullivan, David Sullivan, James Michael Kelly and Steve Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ian Kelly and Steven.
