Eunice Cumpton, 92, of Talihina, passed away on Feb. 9, 2003, at Poteau. She was born April 12, 1910 in Albion to Virgie and Nancy Maude Patterson-Painter. She married Harold Cumpton on July 3, 1931. She enjoyed cooking and being with friends and family. She was a member of Talihina Church of Christ and loved her church family. She enjoyed baby sitting with children and they all loved her. She served with her husband on the election board for several years and has lived in the area most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years; her parents; one great-grandson, Cameron Elliott Christian; and one niece, Barbara Ellen Bacon.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bob Braund of Talihina; one son, Gerald Dean Cumpton of Port Wing, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Susan Bacon and Lois Frances Stevens of Talihina; two granddaughters, Dawn Annett Malloy and Nancy Lynn Christian; two grandsons, Dean Wood and Danny Burl Neighbors; six great-grandchildren; one niece, Linda Dunn; one grandnephew, Jeff and Olga Dunn; one great-great-nephew, Gerald Alex Dunn; and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Talihina Church of Christ with Frank McCawley Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in
Old Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
