Doris Blassingame, 90, of Heavener, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in Poteau. She was a resident of Heavener since 1936, an active member of the First Baptist Church and in the church choir, a retired schoolteacher with 42 years of teaching experience in the Heavener School and surrounding area, a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association, Oklahoma Education Association and the Good Sam's Club.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Bateman of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Keith Bateman and Jeannine France and her husband Oscar; two great-grandchildren, Wes and Audrey.
Services will be at 2 pm Friday, Oct. 4 at the First Baptist Church of Heavener. Burial will follow in
Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
